Pranang Beach
As many places in the world, this prominent beach has a legend. The legend refers to Phra Nang as a mythical sea princess who resides in the cave's heavenly environment; it is said to be her headland indeed. Phra Nang peninsula is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world where turquoise sea meets pristine white sandy beach secluded by the dramatic limestone cliffs with the majestic Phra Nang caves. Be touched by nature from bounded rainforest foliage with wild monkeys and eccentric birdlife to spectacular coral reefs under transparent sea.
Kao Kanap Nam
A striking symbol of Krabi town, Kao Kanap Nam are the twin rock hills jutting three hundred meters up on either side of Krabi River just a few minutes from the town center. The pass at the base of the hills is surrounded by dense mangrove forests - home to many rare birds - while disembarking and climbing further up reveals a deep cave filled with striking stalagmite and stalactite formations.
Suan Chao Fah and Suan Tara
These two riverside public parks are located 300 meters from each other in Krabi town and are a lively place to get a feel of local life. Both are very much "people's parks" and are generally bustling throughout the day with townsfolk strolling or exercising while at night, both convert into outdoor food bazaars serving all kinds of local delicacies. Wat Tham Sua
"Tiger Cave Temple" is a famed Buddhist meditation center located just north of Krabi town among lush hills and peaceful forest. The area is also famed for its caves where archeologists have discovered many human artifacts such as tools, pottery, and molds of the Buddha's foot print which point to a thriving ancient community. Save some energy and end your visit by climbing all 1277 steps to the hilltop where you'll be rewarded with a stunning view of Krabi town.
Khao Phanom Bencha National Park
This large dense rainforest located 30 minutes from town encompasses beautiful streams, waterfalls and varied wildlife. The largest falls, Namtok Huai Toh, is 70 meters high and cascades into eleven separate pools. There are two walking trails through the forest that take you past the main areas of interest and end at vista points. It is common to encounter smaller wildlife such as monkeys and many species of birds.
Toong Tiew Forest
Toong Tiew forest is Thailand's last remaining lowland tropical rainforest. The main attractions are the vast number of plants and wildlife; these include 318 species of birds alone, the most important being the Gurney's Pitta and Black hornbill, both of which are on the verge of extinction. The forest has a 2.7 km circular walking trail that conveniently ands at Sa Morakot, a beautiful freshwater pool.
Namtok Ron Sapan Yoong
This rare hot waterfall originates from an underground hot spring source. Though not visually spectacular, the waterfall, broken into three tiers, collects naturally in about fifteen small rock pools that very much resemble bathtubs. Try to visit on weekdays to avoid the crowds and hoard yourself a pool in which to while away the day. The falls are located in Klong Thom County south of Krabi town.
Susan Hoi or Fossils Shell Beach Situated at Ban Laem Pho, 17 kilometres from town. The area was once a large freshwater swamp, home to a kind of snail. Over eons dating from the Tertiary Age, about 40 million years ago, these snails lived and died by the million. Eventually, weather changes caused the swamp's disappearance, but by then the layer of fossilised snail shells was forty centimeters thick, resting on ten centimeters of lignite below which is the subsoil. Because of geographic upheaval, the fossilised shells are now distributed in great broken sheets of impressive magnitude on the seashore at Laem Pho.
Wat Klong Thom Museum
Also located in Klong Thom County, this namesake museum is one of the most important archeological museums in Thailand. The historical two-story building located behind Klong Thom temple displays many artifacts of the ancient communities that once lived in this area including coins, pottery, and jewelry made from many different precious metals.
Krabi Horticultural Center
Located twenty kilometers from downtown Krabi, the Horticultural Center covers a large area where visitors can find rare collections of local fruits, flowers, and plants. The Center is supported by the Department of Agricultural Extension.
Mu Ko Phi Phi are located at an equal distance from both Krabi and Phuket, about 40 kilometres. Made up of six small and large isles, the main features are sheer limestone cliff and rock. Some offer beautiful beaches and coral reefs. T
